From Helen:

The National Rotary Firefighters Home has become one of our proudest partner projects. It came about as a result of Helen Reisler’s presentation, in Dallas, Texas, about our club’s involvement in 9/11. The presentation inspired the Rotary Club of the University Area, in Houston, to move ahead with the development of the Firefighter's Home.

Helen was appointed as Advisor to the Board of Directors and speaks at the annual Fundraising Gala. Firefighters from around the nation, can now be treated for job related illnesses at the M.D. Anderson Medical Center, knowing they can stay with a family member free of charge at the Home while they're being nurtured by caring Rotarians.

This is our way of “ giving back” to our New York City Firefighters and others.

Helen Reisler and Scarlett Pildes, representing the Rotary Club of New York , attended the Gala in March. Jim Thompson, also on the Board, accompanied Helen and Scarlett previously. Helen also invited 9/11 heroes, Lt. Joe Torillo and Dr. Anthony Dejar , who saved so many victims.
