Caucasian Friendship Days - Mar 18-20, 2005 - Ankara, Turkey
The entire event was co-moderated and co-chaired by International Services Division of RCNY (Giorgio Balestrieri and Kaan Soyak) and fully coordinated under the guidance of Sylvan (Barney) Barnet. More than 400 Rotary Club members from Tbilisi (Georgia), Baku (Azerbaijan), Yerevan and Gyumri (Armenia), California (District 5230 and 5300), New York (the Host Club of America and the United Nations) and District 2430 (Turkey) participated in the Caucasian Friendship Days, March 18-20, 2005 in Ankara under the Chairmanship of District Governor Erhan Çiftçioglu.


Participants to the Conference gave speeches about the Role of Rotary Clubs in Promoting Regional Peace, How Rotary Programs to Promote Peace, and The Importance of NGOs in “Promoting Peace”, The Importance of Regional Understanding, Rotary’s Regional Role in Promoting Youth and Friendship Programs and Economic Development as Conflict Resolution Tool and so on.

They also agreed to collaborate within the framework of the "Rotary Caucasus Peace & Development Council" and “Regional Multinational Coordinating Committee" to work on Rotary programs of Youth Exchange, Ambassadorial Scholarships, Group Study Exchange, Vocational Exchange, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Matching Grants Projects, Twin Clubs as well as other projects regarding Cultural Development and Economic Development.

"Rotary Caucasus Peace & Development Council" created a comprehensive network of Public-Private Partners with expertise in all the required disciplines to achieve Economic Development as a Conflict Prevention Tool.

The Council in an Alliance with Public-Private Partners created a detailed plan to achieve its mandate committed to the Rotary Four Way Test.

The Regional Multinational Coordinating Committee (RMC) agreed to form a coordinating committee to meet quarterly to review and encourage the implementation of the above programs of Rotary referenced in the declaration attached.
