INSTALLATION: Our 110th Year Begins: Jul 11
Installation Day
The Rotary Club of New York will mark the beginning of it's 110th year on Jul 11th with Installation of new President Larry Cohen, new Officers and the Board Directors. This historical event will be held in the similarly historical site of the Union League Club of NYC's Library on Jul 11 at 12 noon.

New President for 2019-20, Larry Cohen
Larry Cohen has been a technology and transformation leader in Financial Services for more than thirty years. He retired as a Partner and Global Head of Operations and Technology at AllianceBernstein (AB), a global investment management firm with $500 billion in assets under management. Larry joined AB as Chief Technology Officer in 2004, and in 2012 he assumed additional leadership responsibility for Investment Operations, Wealth Management Operations, Fund Services, and Brokerage Operations.

Larry was highly engaged in AB’s Corporate Responsibility efforts, and he established a workforce development partnership with Year Up to provide career opportunities and training for young adults in the local community. He also championed a STEM education partnership with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) to sponsor and mentor high school robotics teams. The relationship with Year Up led to AB’s recognition as an Outstanding Employer by the New York City Employment and Training Coalition. Prior to AB, Larry held senior leadership roles at UBS, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, and Fidelity Investments. He and his family lived in Tokyo, Japan from 1990 to 1993 while he was managing the technology infrastructure for the Asia-Pacific region. Larry and his wife Tami are the proud parents of four adult children and a grandson.

Larry received an A.B. in Engineering and Applied Sciences from Harvard University. He has served Rotary District 7230 as District Rotaract Chair and as Chair of the Endowment Sub-Committee of the District Rotary Foundation Committee. The Rotary Foundation has recognized Larry as a Major Donor and a member of the Paul Harris Society. He was a panelist at Rotary Day at the United Nations speaking about Business Inspiring Youth and Empowering the Next Generation, and he has been a speaker and panelist on Technology Innovation in Financial Services, Workforce Diversity, and the Power of Mentorship.

Larry is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Bridges to Prosperity, an organization that provides isolated communities with access to essential healthcare, education, and economic opportunities by building footbridges over impassable rivers. He has helped build footbridges in Africa and Latin America, and his first Rotary meeting was in Nicaragua while on a bridge building trip with two of his daughters and the Rotary Club of Alamogordo, New Mexico. His most recent bridge building trip was in an indigenous community in Latin America with a team of Rotaractors and Rotarians. Larry is also the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of NYC FIRST, an organization that inspires and engages students in the study of science and technology, and he is a mentor at Columbia University for the Executive Master of Science in Technology Management.
