RCNY International Breakfast at the UN - February 20, 2025
Chair of Breakfasts Malika Abrous, Guest presenter Dr. Daisy Khan (Honorary RCNY Member) and PP Gerard Schriffen
On February 20, 2025 we had the honor and privilege of hosting Dr. Doris Khan as our guest presenter. As always, our Chair of Breakfasts and President Elect Malika Abrous had chosen a high-level presenter that gave a wonderful presentation and impressed with her warm and kind personality. The meeting was guided masterfully by both Past President Gerard Schriffen and the Chair of Breakfast Malika Abrous. We thank them!
Dr. Khan in her own words:
"When I emigrated to America, I attended high School in a Jewish Long Island suburb and focused on my career as an architectural designer in New York City. I married and found myself, as an imam’s wife, at the center of a community in which women turned to me for advice. After working for 25 years, I quit my corporate career after 9-11 to dedicate my life to community service. I devised innovative ways to strengthen bonds between faith communities, founded initiatives to build bridges through the arts, created a global youth leadership platform [MLT] and founded the largest network of Muslim women [WISE]. I created thought-provoking conversations and published researched and evidence-based publications [WISE Up] to develop narratives of peace in the face of rising hate and extremism." She spoke about 30 Rights, a book that is perfect for spiritual seekers, people of faith and those looking for answers. More on her persona and details in general can be found at www.daisykhan.com

She answered several relevant questions as well as offering the advice to young people who wish to serve on non-profits to first get their work life in order and have financial stability and then start serving for a greater good.
Our exciting program was rounded out with three new member inductions of Leila Doehring, Davide Romeo and Patricia Duffy.
